Traffic Case Records in Caddo Parish
A ticket becomes a court matter only after it lands with the court or agency that handles it. The court record may list the citation number, the issuing agency, the alleged violation, the date, the court, any appearance or deadline, payment status, an extension, the outcome, and any failure-to-appear entry shown. Keep two limits in mind. Paying a ticket is not a ruling. And the citation itself is not a finding of responsibility.
There is no single parish-wide docket for Caddo traffic records. Shreveport City Court keeps its own route. State-law tickets from the Sheriff and certain state and campus agencies go through the Caddo District Attorney Traffic Division and the Sheriff. A town ordinance ticket may sit with a Mayor's Court or town clerk, and a notice naming a justice court belongs at that local office.
Caddo Traffic Agency Routes
The Caddo District Attorney Traffic Division page lays out the split. It prosecutes state traffic tickets from the Caddo Parish Sheriff, Louisiana State Police in Caddo, Caddo constables, LSU-Shreveport, LSU Health, Centenary, Wildlife and Fisheries, DOTD, and other listed agencies. Shreveport Police is the stated exception. Those citations go to Shreveport City Court instead.
The official Traffic Division page is a routing reference.
Can't tell who issued the ticket? Read the citation before touching any portal. A parish address alone does not identify the custodian. For Shreveport Police matters, the City Courts page carries the current City Court records, payment, and calendar routes.
Caddo Parish Traffic Ticket Lookups
The Caddo DA court-date route is a request form. It is not a public by-name search of ticket history. It wants the ticket number plus identity details from the ticket holder. No ticket in hand, or a record too new to have posted? Call the issuing court or agency rather than guessing at the fields. Caddo Sheriff payment and amount questions go to 318-681-0622. Shreveport City Court sends people contesting its traffic cases to 318-673-5830.
- Read the issuing agency and court named on the citation.
- Keep the ticket number and the official identity information required by the date-request form.
- Use the DA request form only for an eligible DA-handled traffic matter.
- Use Shreveport City Court’s current route for a Shreveport Police ticket.
- Call the court or visit its counter when the citation has not posted or the named court is a town or justice court.
- Save the response email or official court notice with the ticket number and date.
Town courts, Mayor's Courts, and justice courts may not offer the same online lookup fields. No common public by-name search covers those venues. So the court named on the citation is the right fallback.
Caddo Traffic Date Form Fields
The official traffic court-date request form asks for Ticket Number, Driver License Number, Driver License State, First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth in MM/DD/YYYY format, Email, and Verify Email. Optional fields cover the name suffix, middle initial, street address, city, state, ZIP, and phone. Those identity fields are why this is not an open public name search.
The source form appears here as a reference.
The form says to allow 48 hours for the result email. It also says not to submit again while the request is pending. Save that email as your result notice; it is not a full court docket, and it does not prove a final disposition.
Traffic Court Dates in Caddo Parish
Match the citation with the responsible court's official response to pin down a traffic date. Note the ticket number, issuing agency, court, date, time, and location if one is listed. Also note what kind of event it is. A date may be an appearance, a deadline, or something else. Confirm any continuance or extension with the court itself. Do not infer it from an old citation or a general calendar.
| Citation number | Use the exact ticket number. The form does not publish a universal Caddo citation pattern: copy the number exactly as issued. |
|---|---|
| Issuing agency | Determines whether the route is Shreveport City Court, DA/Sheriff traffic, a town court, or another local court. |
| Court and date | Read the court named on the ticket and confirm the date through its official response or clerk. |
| Date type | A citation date can be a deadline rather than an actual appearance. Confirm its meaning with the responsible court. |
| Status | Use only an official case or payment display. A request-form submission does not establish payment or disposition. |
When a date controls an appearance or a response, compare the citation against the court's current notice, email, or clerk confirmation. A calendar screen or a payment screen cannot replace the document issued for that ticket.
Caddo Traffic Entry Delays
Shreveport City Court's official Guide to Practice says new ticket information can take 6 to 10 days. That is how long entry into the system can take. So a fresh citation may not show up right away in the city's Tyler route. The same guidance warns that a citation date roughly three months out can be a deadline. It may not be the actual court appearance. A recent no-result does not mean the ticket was cancelled. Nor does it mean no response is due.
Use the ticket number and call the court if the city record is not yet visible. For live links, rely on the current Shreveport City Courts page. The Guide supplies the documented timing caution. The DA form has its own 48-hour result-email rule and no-resubmit notice. Keep the two timing rules separate.
Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It
Some Caddo Parish traffic tickets can be paid without a hearing. Others cannot. The DA traffic page names a few that always require a court appearance. Those are Driving Under Suspension, Reckless or Careless Operation, Failure to Stop for a School Bus, and accidents. What your citation allows depends on the notice itself and the court responsible for it. Seeing a payment option somewhere does not mean your case qualifies. The date printed on the ticket is never optional.
| Following a payment route | Seeking a court response |
|---|---|
| Use only the payment channel and amount confirmed for the issuing agency and ticket. | Use the court-date request or the responsible court’s contest instruction for the cited matter. |
| Keep the receipt and ticket number; a payment screen is not a full case-history record. | Keep the court’s email or notice and confirm the date, court, and response instructions. |
| Some citations are not payable through the listed channels. | Shreveport City Court directs traffic contest questions to 318-673-5830. |
Do not miss the response route. The official sources warn that failure to pay or schedule as required may lead to a warrant. This is a published court warning, not a conclusion about any specific citation. Contact the court named on the ticket promptly if its status or date is unclear.
Before paying or fighting, read the citation itself. The deadline, the court, and your available responses all come from the issuing agency and that particular notice, not from any general traffic page.
Caddo Traffic Payment Channels
For Caddo Sheriff tickets, the DA Traffic Division page points payment questions to 318-681-0622. It also lists the official money-order and cash routes. Those are the Sheriff's office, the Correctional Center lobby, the South Substation, and the Oil City Substation. Bring the right payment type. Personal checks and bank cards are not accepted at the Correctional Center or at either substation. Before you travel or mail anything, confirm a few things. Check the amount, your eligibility, and the location. Also confirm the current accepted method with the official source. The vendor's Caddo Sheriff traffic payment landing page shows the online option.
A payment route alone never proves a ticket is payable. Follow the citation's court and deadline instructions above all.
Two Records: Court File and Driver File
A court file and a driver record are two separate things, kept by different offices. The court file sits behind the citation. The issuing court or traffic process may hold the ticket, the setting, payment details, and the court outcome. The state's driver record is something else entirely, held elsewhere. A Caddo Parish court docket lookup is not a stand-in for it. Treat the two records as distinct from the start.
| Court file | Separate driver file |
|---|---|
| Maintained by the court or traffic custodian identified by the issuing agency and citation. | Maintained by a separate state custodian not documented in this Caddo court-record research. |
| Can concern the citation, court date, payment route, and court disposition where officially available. | Is a different state record and cannot be inferred from a Caddo court search. |
| Use the issuer-specific court, clerk, DA, Sheriff, City Court, or town route. | Use the appropriate state custodian’s official process, not a Caddo court portal. |
When requesting records, keep those two offices separate in your mind. A court-file lookup only answers what the responsible traffic court or agency has released about the citation.
Caddo Traffic Minute Access Limit
R.S. 13:5992 requires electronic minute entries or summaries for certain criminal cases. Traffic matters sit outside that mandate. So a Caddo Parish traffic ticket will not simply turn up in the statewide criminal-minute layer that covers some post-2020 criminal dockets. The statute carves traffic out.
What the exclusion does not do is decide whether a specific traffic court file or payment record exists. It just tells you where not to look first. Start instead with the issuing agency, the citation number, and the local traffic route the court itself assigns. If a Caddo Parish record turns out to be restricted, ask the clerk what official copy or access process applies.
Traffic Record Copy Fees
Copy fees for traffic records depend on which court keeps the citation. Caddo Parish has no single countywide traffic-copy price. Nor can you assume prices carry over everywhere. The Caddo Parish Clerk's civil, criminal, and land copy price does not carry over to City Court or municipal traffic files. Before ordering anything, ask the named traffic court or clerk about the cost and certification requirements.
| Request type | Documented charge or route | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Caddo Clerk copy request | Caddo copies page lists $1 per page plus postage for its criminal, civil, and land record classes. | Do not treat it as a universal fee for a City Court, Mayor’s Court, or other traffic file. |
| DA traffic date request | Use the official request form and preserve its email response. | The research documents no fee schedule for the request form or a traffic case-history copy. |
| City or town traffic copy | Ask the court named on the citation for its current ordinary-copy or certification process. | No rate is claimed where the source set did not publish one. |
A precise request works best. State the ticket number, issuing agency, date, the document you want, the delivery format, and whether you need certification. A date request, a payment page, and a case-file copy are three different transactions.
Caddo Traffic Extension Rules
Extension rules come straight from the DA traffic page. Only one 30-day extension is allowed. Payment must be made by the end of it, or your license may be suspended. Pretrial-program participants get 25 business days instead. Those are the published DA instructions, though, not a guarantee that every citation qualifies. Check the route and terms with the responsible court before counting on an extension or program.
Shreveport Police citations go through City Court, not the DA state-traffic process. A town ordinance citation belongs with that town's clerk or Mayor's Court. Whatever the follow-up, it starts with a few basics. Gather the issuing agency, the ticket number, and the named court. Add the citation date and any official response you already received.
